This vintage delivered sensational aromatics of passionfruit blossom, mango skin and ripe logans. A hint of pine lime and guava, but so too are there baked custard, red sea salt and begonia florals. This leans into the fleshy style but with the length of saline acidity and raciness of its high-altitude site. Mayfield has nailed its sauvignon blanc style here, and I hope it continues.

Pale silvery straw in colour, the sauvignon blanc varietal scents in this wine boast purity and freshness. There's a leafy edge to zesty lime and guava on the nose, a hint of steel underneath. The palate is zippy in fruit flavour with succulent balance and brisk acidity in support.

This current release ticks the desired cool-climate SB boxes of aromas and flavours of quince, gooseberry & lemony pear on first pour. It lingers cleanly & crisply with grassy wafts and backpalate hints of feijoa and salty astringency These fruity and savoury attributes would make it a good match to green salads or even freshly shucked oysters.
